The North Carolina Climate Office has had a busy year. Established by the UNC Board of Governors in 1998, the State Climate Office (SCO) is responsible for climate- and weather-related services, and is North Carolinians’ hub for climate information, monitoring, and research. This year’s report details heavy web traffic for its climate database, CRONOS, and website, a slight increase in direct requests for services, and research projects intended to aid with agriculture and forest and natural resource management. Research and monitoring efforts include the NC Environment and Climate Observing Network (ECONet), which now monitors leaf wetness, and PINEMAP to help with the management of pine trees in the southern United States. The report covers the 2013-2014 Academic Year.
